Spyware Protection

People just do not bother about the security of the online computers and before they realize it, sufficient and irreversible damage has been caused upon them. They did not bother to install spyware protection on their computer. Forget the good old days when one just needed an antivirus program to feel secure while browsing online. Thanks to advanced technology and along with it the advent of high speed broadband, more and more malicious programs are appearing every day on the internet. If you are among that special group of people who are sufficiently educated about spyware and how it attacks your PC, you might not download and install any program from the internet apart from ones that are absolutely necessary and that which you have downloaded from the author’s site.

But is that sufficient enough and does that mean that spyware protection is not required by your computer? If you answer in the positive, it means that you have not bothered to keep yourself up to date. There are many bugs and loopholes in the Windows operating system that permit the same to get infected by spyware attacks even without downloading and installing any dubious software. You no doubt know about tracking cookies and how they help you by storing your vital information and providing the same to concerned websites. Remember the auto password feature that saves you the headache of remembering various passwords for the different sites that you visit including your bank.

These passwords are stored in cookies that are basically text files. When you log into your bank and assuming that you are using the password feature, the cookie provides your password along with the details of your last visit and what you had done in that last session to the bank’s server. This is perfectly ok and there should be no problems with such a task. But what if your computer does not boast of spyware protection features? Did you know that there are many malicious sites containing scripts that can cause mayhem on your PC? You do not have to take any action for these acts of destruction to take place. If your PC does not have spyware protection, just visiting any such website can infect your computer.

After that it is a matter of a few seconds before the data in the cookie is retrieved from your hard drive and transmitted to someone else on the web. Armed with this information, the other person can easily open your online bank account and do anything they like including withdrawing money. They can also change your default password thereby blocking you from logging into your bank’s online site. By the time you realize this and contact your bankers, your entire savings might have been withdrawn. It is imperative that you take adequate protection today and install some decent spyware protection programme on your PC. While you can play safe by not using the `password remember’ feature, having spyware protection installed ensures that even keyloggers are blocked from creating disaster.
